I Once Put Laxatives In Albert Einstein’s Ice Cream

Okay, that’s a lie; I didn’t really put laxatives in Albert Einstein’s ice cream. But how cool would it be to actually do it? Very cool, I think.

So… I imagine this is going to be a pretty boring update. Let’s get that out of the way right off the bat. Life has been pretty boring and run of the mill lately. Well, Christmas (which was good), New Year’s (which sucked), the bowl games (which were good; we won, the coots lost, the other USC lost). But… I put updating the site on my to-do list and I’m trying to get a few things crossed off there tonight, so update: here I come.

Christmas was pretty standard, I suppose. Except with the distinction of this being the first Christmas that I wasn’t already at home for. Kinda weird, that. Wasn’t much of a fan of only having one day off for the holiday, either. It’s about to the point where I’d really like to have like a week off and not think about work in any way, shape, or form for the entire week. Longest break I’ve had since May was 4 days. But yeah, Christmas was good. Got to go home, eat some good food, hang out a bit. Good times. The drive back to Hilton Head on the 26th, however: horrible. I-26 was a parking lot about 30 miles from the junction with I-95. Which, incidentally, was also a parking lot from the moment I got on. At that point, I’m like “Oh, hell no” and got off at the first exit, which, luckily, was one of those travel stop places with several fast food joints and the trucker area with showers and whatnot. Anyway, I bought a map and figured out an alternate route starting from that exit. Ended up having to go back roads for more than half of the trip from Columbia to Hilton Head, but from what I can tell, I was a lot better off doing that. When I got back, I hopped onto The Tigernet and saw a post where someone said that it took them 2 hours to get from the Hilton Head exit to Savannah on 95. k, that’s like 20-30 miles. And if it was backed up like that all the way down here, there’s no telling how long my trip would have actually taken.

I guess that’s as good a segue as any, mentioning The Tigernet like that, since the bowl game was the next day. And, funny story (k, not really funny, maybe ironic), while I was in the aforementioned travel plaza, I look over and I says to myself “Self, I think you know that guy.” He looks up and sure enough, someone that I went to Clemson with. Just chillin’. We talked for a couple minutes; he was headed down to Orlando for the bowl game. Funny how that works out. Which leads me to the game itself. I had to miss the first quarter or so because I had to work that day and couldn’t get out until 5 (rawr!). But I got to see most of the game and got to see the Tigers take care of business and move us to a solid 8-4 on the season. As of the final AP poll that came out after Texas beat USC, we were the highest-ranked 4-loss team in the country, so we’ve at least got that going for us. Looking for some big things from the team next year. We’ve got a lot of good talent coming back (that means you, Gaines Adams; please stay). Even better, a lot of it’s young, so maybe next year or the year after, we can finally get that BCS berth. Here’s to hoping.

Been playing some Battlefield 2 lately. Trying to work my way up through the ranks and become more than a lowly Corporal. I want some stripes on my arm, dammit! Hehe. Sergeant’s a long way away. But it’s fun; it’s a good game. If you’re looking for something fun to do, get the game if you don’t already have it, and we’ll have to get a game going. It can be quite fun on voice comm, coordinating attacks and stuff (mess hall assault, WHAT?!). Good stuff.

Well, I suppose that wasn’t necessarily the most boring update ever. Close, I’m sure. Anyway, I’m out, boys and girls.
