Don’t Mock My Faith. I’ll Have You Smote!

First things first, and I know I’m late (as usual) with this and everyone already knows (as usual), but the chicken has been kicked (as usual). I’ll just add 13-9 to the long list of victories over the chickens from down the road. Woohoo!
Thanksgiving was good. I hadn’t had a chance to go back to Columbia since May, so it was nice to be home, even if it was only for a few days. My bedroom has undergone quite a transformation since then, as to be expected. I only have a few things there - stuff that I want to keep but don’t need here nor do I have the space for - so mostly the whole room is new. And I do mean new. The treadmill is in there, which my parents haven’t had but like a year or so. My mom’s new computer is there (sitting on my old computer cart that I couldn’t be happier to be rid of). The new TV stand - Walmart furniture ftw! - and the new TV. And I suppose the crown jewel would be the futon that my dad just bought. It’s a really nice wood frame queen-size mattress monster. Sits three people very comfortably and since it’s a queen-size, it sleeps quite nicely, too. Much better than foam on the damn floor and also better than even a blow-up air mattress. Maybe I’ll go home more often now that I have a place to sleep.
Black Friday. More like, sleep Friday. First time in probably four years that I didn’t get up and go shopping on Black Friday. There really just was nothing out there this year that tickled my fancy. I have hard drives, I have a DVD burner, I have burnable media, I have an LCD monitor. I really don’t need anything this year. My dad went out to get a portable DVD player for my sister for Christmas, though. Those seemed to be all the rage this year. Almost every store had one - even CVS and Ace Hardware. I remember back in Nebraska, Chris and I were looking at the portable players as DVD was becoming popular and they were like $700+ for a 4″ or 5″ screen. The one my sister got? A 7″ screen model that plays CDs and mp3s (can you say “DVD full of mp3s?” I can.) for $60. Bam! I don’t know that I see much point in her even having one since it’s not like we ever go on many trips long enough to warrant a portable DVD player. But for $60, I guess you can’t really go wrong. While my dad was out, he did stop by Ace Hardware, who had a nice set of wooden tray tables on sale for $20 that he got for me, which was pretty sweet. Guess I can actually get food in my mouth now instead of on my shirt when I’m sitting in my chair watching TV while I’m eating, hehe.
Well, I suppose that’s enough for now, and it’s only been a month since I updated. Woohoo.
