What what what? An update? And a new site design, to boot. And a new forums theme to match. Damn I’m good. And stuff. There are still a few minor things that I need to adjust in the forums theme since it bases a fairly substantial portion of the layout settings on the default forum theme, which is the old theme. So there’s a few things that won’t look quite right (I think I’ve gotten the most-used pages ready, though, so you may not even notice) until I have a chance to go through the forums and change a few things here and there. I like the new design a lot, though. We’ll see how long this one lasts, haha. I think it’s a better design than the old one, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it lasts longer based solely on that.

Anyway, the parental units, siblings, and one set of grandparents were in town today. Been a couple months since I’d visited with the family and it was also the first time since the last time they were here that anyone other than the apartment maintenance staff was inside my apartment. That’s kind of depressing, but what can I do? At any rate, it was nice to have company for a day. I ended up with a fridge and freezer full of my grandma’s delicious Italian cooking, as well. Excellent.

Been working hard on racing and improving my laptimes at Spa in GTR. I finally went ahead and just bought the game a couple weeks ago and i don’t think there’s been a day since I got it that I’ve not played. Sweetness. Only problem with the game is that I’m still 9 seconds off the best hotlap times. I don’t know how I’m going to ever find 9 seconds in my laps. Gonna be really tough.

I got a new router, in the hope that it would fix the damn connection issues I’ve had with Hargray since I moved in. A couple months ago, there was a sale on a Linksys 802.11b router for like $5, so I had my dad snag one at Best Buy and he brought it down today when they were here. After they left, I swapped out the Netgear that I had and had been working (except for the dropped connections) for a few weeks now and set the Linksys up and configured everything up (using WPA-PSK, too, which I was glad to see that the router supported out of the box) and it was working fine. Until it started dropping me, as well. It’s all the wireless stuff. I’m telling you, networking is the biggest misnomer ever. It’s also a strange batch of evil witchcraft. I think maybe I’m going to take my socks off, stand on my head, and tug on my left earlobe to see if I can get it all working. Maybe that will appease the networking gods. Anyway, I got pissed off at the Linksys router and switched the Netgear back in, expecting everything to go back to working as it was. Did that happen? Hell no. Like I said, an evil force is afoot here. So now I can’t get the wireless working on my laptop again, which really pisses me off since it was working not 5 hours ago before I started fucking with it. *sigh* I don’t know anymore.

Perhaps this update will be the first of what I may try to do: more frequent updates. I know I’ve said that several times, but what excuse do I really have? Not much. I guess the only excuse I’d have for not updating is the fact that very little of any importance or excitement actually happens in my life, so the updates may degenerate into my musings about the squirrels getting it on outside my office window. Who knows.
