I Am Better At Hiding Than They Are At Vision
Posted on May 8, 2005
Well, I guess I sort of broke my streak of updating on some sort of regular basis. I don’t have a lot of time right now since we’re about to head over to my aunt and uncle’s house for Mother’s Day with the immediate family and both sets of grandparents. Hamburgers and hot dogs, good stuff.
I guess the most major thing that has changed since the last update was the employment status. I got an email from an IT recruiter a couple weeks ago saying that she had a possible job as a junior web developer in Hilton Head. So I told her I was interested and she emailed back saying that the client (kind of weird referring to the company as the client, but in this case, it makes enough sense) wanted to see a sample of my work. Unfortunately, the best case of my skills is the Lethal Trumpet Essential Guide (more on this in a bit) and isn’t probably the most work safe thing, so I whipped up a quick page and a database with about 20 movie titles and information on them and sent them that. It was pretty decent for a few hours’ of work. They liked it and wanted to set up an interview. After a few days coordinating, they called for a phone interview and I was told that if I wanted it, the job was mine. So I’m headed down to HHI Tuesday to check everything out and see some apartments. Oughta be moved in within 2 weeks or so and working not long after that. It’s about time, heh.
The other major accomplishment is the completion of the Lethal Trumpet Essential Guide. I was on a roll to get it done a few months ago but I was sidetracked by my watching of The West Wing in its entirety, so I just got back to working on the guide a few weeks ago and pounded out quite a bit of stuff in a pretty short time. Chris and I got back to going through the stories and compiling the massive amount of information required for the guide and then we put it all into the database, which was no small task, either. The end result is what amounts to an encylopedia for all things related to Lethal Trumpet and if I do say so myself, it’s damn impressive. To toot my own horn for a sec, there’s some really nifty things coded into the site and I’m quite proud of it. It’s password protected, but if you’re interested in seeing it just for the hell of it (or if because you’re a huge LT fan, which isn’t likely, but maybe so), click here and enter the username/password. If you don’t have that information, IM me or PM me on the forums and if you’re deemed trustworthy
I’ll hook you up.
k, there’s a hamburger with my name on it. Later, kids.
