Do I Seem Like The Kind Of Guy That Would Drive A Squishy Little Car?

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve updated the site. Kyle pointed this out to me the other day and if I remember correctly, ordered me to update. I guess I might as well comply, seeing how it needs to be done, anyway.

Dodge announced the new Charger SRT-8 a few days ago. When they first announced the Charger and showed pictures of it, I wasn’t crazy about it. But they did a good job in the end, I think, and the new Charger is mean-looking. Especially the SRT-8 with the air scoop on the hood and the intakes for cooling the big fat brakes. The thing should make some serious power, too, with its 6.1L Hemi V8. Supposed to do 0-60 in just over 5 seconds and in accordance with all of Dodge’s other SRT vehicles, it can do the 0-100-0 test in less than 16 seconds. That’s what I heard, anyway. I think I’d have to see the Ram SRT-10 do that to believe it. I made a post over at the forums regarding the new Charger, so check that out here if you want to see some pictures and/or contribute to the discussion regarding the car.

I started watching The West Wing a few weeks ago and wow, what have I been missing these past 6 years. I knew it was a good show but I’d never seen it and didn’t realize how good it actually is. I’m officially hooked now and I’ve been blazing through the seasons. I’m about a third of the way through season 4 right now and still loving it. I’ve only been a fan of it for two weeks maybe and I’m already hoping that NBC decides to extend its life past the next season when all or most of the original cast will have moved out of the White House. Surely Jimmy Smits or Alan Alda could carry the show as well as Martin Sheen and crew did, although it would take some time to get used to a totally new cast of characters. I guess we’ll find out, eh?

I just acquired the X-wing and TIE Fighter collector’s pack so I might have some old-school gaming soon. I used to play TIE Fighter all the time and still consider it to be one of my favorite games even though I don’t even remember much about it now. All I know that is it was damn fun.

Kind of a short update, but I guess it’ll do. I’ve not had much going on lately so there’s not much to report. Later on.

Racing continues. Still on the same track, the wonderful La Colina raceway. I’m sort of starting to get tired of racing the same track over and over, but I’m much improved from where I was a week ago. Before I started working with Jesse, I thought 1:27.500 was a good laptime and now I’m disappointed if I don’t get at least 1:25.500. I’ve cracked 1:24 twice so far and I’ll be quite happy when I can turn those laptimes consistently. Once I can get it down to 1:23, I think we can move on to another track. Laguna Seca was mentioned as being the next track to master. That’d be fun. More work to master than La Colina, surely, but if I can do the corkscrew at the proper speed, there’s probably not another corner I can’t do.

About a week and a half ago, my dad discovered a deal on a 17″ LCD monitor (a Samsung 710N-2 for $225 from chiefvalue.com - seems to be another site run by Newegg) and ordered one. When it got here, I was impressed with it and went ahead and ordered one of my own. He got the ivory model and I got the black. They both look sharp and the display is very nice indeed. Especially for the price. $225 for a 17″ LCD with 1280×1024 resolution, .26something dot-pitch, 600:1 contrast ratio, and best of all, 12ms response time. Yay for very little ghosting even when I’m tearing down the hill at La Colina at 180mph. Since I’ve fixed the site so I can put pictures inline, here’s a factory photo of the monitor…

So there it is. Looks quite nice, although that picture doesn’t really do it justice. It looks hot sitting on my desk. I’ll have to take a better picture and post that up here for peoples to see. I like showing off my new toy, hehe.

I guess that’s about all the news for now. Enjoy.
